Ascari Ferrari 60th Anniversary

The brief

The Ideas Institute is the principal conduit for creation of new interfaces that present ideas, artefacts and expressions of art. The organisation bridges relationships between custodians of artefacts, commercial and public organisations and communities. In March of 2012, The Ideas Institute delivered the historic “Ascari Ferrari” to Melbourne after an absence of five decades.

As the most successful chassis in Grand Prix history, the car's return to Melbourne coincided with Ferrari celebrating the 60th Anniversary of its first FIA World Championship title in addition to the 60th anniversary of Australia’s first Grand Prix driver, Tony Gaze DFC, OAM. Our brief was to work in partnership with The Ideas Institute to secure and manage corporate partnerships, create a comprehensive two week event and communications programme, while managing all project stakeholders, event partners and custodians.

The solution

An integrated programme of events and communications that presented the Ascari Ferrari during its two week presentation in Melbourne: including the Phillip Island Classic Festival of Motorsport, The Ideas Institute’s Ascari Ferrari 60th Anniversary Media and VIP cocktail function at 101 Collins Street, as well as the 2012 Formula One Australian Grand Prix.

The results

– Import and export of the car from the United Kingdom.
– Established capital and corporate partnerships for the event.
– Successfully presented the car at all key events and initiatives.
– 340 guests at VIP cocktail function at 101 Collins Street.
