Escher X nendo | Between Two Worlds is a groundbreaking exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria that features the work of Dutch artist M.C. Escher in dialogue with the work of acclaimed Japanese design studio nendo. 3 Deep were commissioned to establish a highly identifiable campaign supported by a programme of integrated communications. The campaign sought to excite existing and discerning patrons, while captivating and stimulating emerging audiences, supporting partners and media.
The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is the oldest and most visited gallery in Australia and within the top 25 most visited museums in the world. Situated over two magnificent buildings – NGV International and NGV Australia – the Gallery hosts a wide range of international and local artists, exhibitions, programmes and events; from contemporary art to major international historic exhibitions, fashion, design and architecture.
Escher was obsessed with patterns made from interlocking shapes, known as tessellations. He described them as the richest source of inspiration he had ever encountered and developed his own layman's theory on the subject. Our campaign sought to emphasis this obsession through repeated geometries and patterns.
